Jasprit Bumrah has captured the imagination of the Australian cricket fans with his performances in the Border-Gavaskar Test series. His pace and accuracy throughout the four Tests drew a lot of praise from former Australia cricketers who saw him for the first time in red-ball cricket Down Under.
Bumrah ended the series as the joint-highest wicket taker with 21 wickets along with Nathan Lyon.
But more than his success, it has been his action and the pace which he generates with such a short run-up, which has baffled cricket pundits and fans all over the world. How does he do it?
Bumrah's action is so unique that fans have been trying to copy it ever since he made his international debut.
And now a young Aussie fan seems to have finally perfected the action and also has the India pacer's stamp of approval on it.
A video is going viral on social media in which a small kid, barely taller than the stumps, could be seen imitating Bumrah's hop, skip and jump bowling action.
The user who posted the video also tagged Bumrah and cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle in the tweet and wrote, "The only problem from your great series win may be the next generation of Aussie cricketers you have inspired."
Bumrah was quick to reply on the tweet. "The kid is so cute. Give him my best wishes," the 25-year-old wrote.
Bumrah rattled the Aussies and tore through their batting lineup throughout the four Tests as India registered a historic series win, their first ever in Australia in 71 years.
The performance of India's fast bowlers on overseas Test tours over the last one year has made the whole world stand up and take notice with many rating this attack as the best ever India has ever produced in red-ball cricket.
Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma took a total of 48 wickets in the series, more than what the Aussie pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins collectively managed (40 wickets).
The pace trio consistently delivered for India during their three important overseas tours in South Africa, England, and Australia in the 2018-19 season.
Even during the series defeats in South Africa and England, the pacers delivered, picking up 20 opposition wickets on most occasion.
The trio picked up 136 wickets in 2018, thereby breaking a 34-year-old record of 130 wickets set by the legendary West Indies trio of Joel Garner, Michael Holding, and Malcolm Marshall for the most wickets in a calendar year by a pace bowling unit.
