Twitter to ban political ads worldwide on its platform

Twitter-False and Viral
Twitter said Wednesday it would bar political advertising globally on its platform, responding to growing criticism over misinformation from politicians on social media.
Chief executive Jack Dorsey said in a tweet that the company took the action to head off potential problems from "machine learning-based optimization of messaging and micro-targeting, unchecked misleading information, and deep fakes."
The move comes with Facebook under pressure to apply fact-checking to politicians running ads with debunked claims.
Dorsey said the new policy, details of which will be unveiled next month, would ban ads on political issues as well as from candidates.
"We considered stopping only candidate ads, but issue ads present a way to circumvent," he said.
"Additionally, it isn't fair for everyone but candidates to buy ads for issues they want to push. So we're stopping these too."

Indians among most sleep-deprived, says Fitbit study

sleep-computer-laptop-work-sleep-deprived-shut
Indians are the second-most sleep deprived after Japanese people, getting an average night sleep of 7 hours 1 minute, says a report by fitness solutions firm Fitbit.
Indians get 77 minutes of REM sleep on average, which is the lowest in the world just like Japanese, who get the same amount of average REM sleep.
Rapid eye movement (REM) sleep is a crucial aspect for emotion regulation, memory, and the peak stage of protein synthesis at the cellular level that ensures that multiple processes in the body work properly, according to the report.
India has emerged as the least-active country among 18 countries including the US, the UK, Japan and Singapore, walking an average of 6,533 steps daily, according to the report.
Based on aggregated and anonymised user data insights from 18 countries, the Fitbit report found that "Indians are the least active and log in only 6,533 steps daily, the least amongst all 18 countries which is 3,600 steps lesser than the average of the most active country—Hong Kong".
Average active minutes (32) also fare the lowest in the grid, it added.
Indians also get the least amount of nightly sleep on average (after Japan) at 7 hours 1 minute, which is 48 minutes lesser than the average nightly sleep of users in the UK and 32 minutes lesser than average nightly sleep of Americans, the report said.
Ireland got the highest amount of average night sleep at 7 hours and 57 minutes.
Interestingly, the report found Indian users in the age group of 75-90 got the lowest sleep (6 hours 35 minutes on average) compared to other age groups, even though users in the age group of 18-25 years went to bed more than an hour later (12:33 AM) than users in 75-90 age group (11:22 PM).

Ajay Devgn on #MeToo movement: There's a difference between accused and proven guilty

Ajay Devgn said that he was not at all in favour of working with those proven guilty of sexual harassment.
Ajay Devgn said that he was not at all in favour of working with those proven guilty of sexual harassment.
The #MeToo wave swept Bollywood last year, and serious allegations of sexual misconduct were levelled against several bigwigs. There were rammifications too; Sajid Khan, Nana Patekar and others were dropped from films after being accused of inappropriate behaviour.
In an interview with Filmfare, Ajay Devgn was asked if it was ethical to work with people who have been accused of sexual harassment. "There's a difference between 'accused' and 'proven guilty'," he said.
"One must definitely not work with those proven guilty. But those who haven't been...we can't be unfair to them. What about their families? I know an 'accused', whose daughter was so traumatised, she stopped eating and going to school," the actor added.
Ajay was at the centre of a controversy for working with Alok Nath in Akiv Ali's De De Pyaar Deafter the latter was accused of rape and sexual harassment by multiple women.
In a statement released at the time, Ajay had defended the decision and said that the portions with Alok Nath were shot in August, before the allegations were made.
"When the entire #MeToo Movement happened, I along with many of my film industry colleagues categorically expressed that I respect every single woman at the work place and I would not stand for any unfairness or atrocity against them. Nothing about my stand has changed," he said.
"Coming to the question of having worked with Mr Alok Nath in my upcoming film De De Pyar De, here I must put certain things in perspective. This film was supposed to be an October 2018 release. The shoot of the film got over by last September. The portions with Mr Alok Nath were canned by August in Manali The said portions were shot over 40 days across various sets and an outdoor location with a combination of over 10 actors. By the time the allegations came out (in October 2018) the actors in the film including me had already started work on other films," he explained.
Ajay went on to say that it would be "near impossible" to get the dates of all the other actors and reshoot the portions featuring Alok Nath. In addition, it would have significantly increased the cost of production.
"The decision to replace Mr Alok Nath could never have been mine alone. In this case, I would have to go with the joint-decision of the entire unit. Not to forget, I could not have brought the entire combination of actors back or put up sets again for a 40-day re-shoot because this would mean doubling the budget, which again wasn't my call to make. It would have to be the call of the makers," he said, adding that the circumstances were beyond him and that he should not be singled out as insensitive.

GULABO SITABO: AMITABH BACHCHAN SHOOTS IN LUCKNOW, PICTURE GOES VIRAL

Gulabo Sitabo: Amitabh Bachchan shoots in Lucknow, picture goes viral

After Piku, director Shoojit Sircar has reunited with Amitabh Bachchan once more, for his new film Gulabo Sitabo. For those who watched Bachchan's 102 Not Out wherein he played a 102-year-old, incredibly fit man, his first look from Gulabo Sitabo will look familiar too. Fans all across were left impressed once the first look made its way to the internet. But then, he is forever fond of experimenting with new roles and new avatars!

Bachchan is presently shooting in Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow. A number of photos of him at work surfaced on the internet on Friday. In one of them, he seems to shoot inside an old house, accompanied by a handful of children and also three goats! In another, he is probably taking a quick break at the location and is having a quick snack.

"In the story, which borrows its title from their names, Sitabo is the worn-out, overworked wife of a man, while Gulabo is his enticing mistress. It is peppered with local humour and songs that depict the nuances of daily life," Shoojit earlier told Mirror, elaborating on the plot.

Gulabo Sitabo will also star Ayushmann Khurrana in a key role. He, of course, is elated to be working with Bachchan for the first time!

Bachchan, prior to beginning this one, wrapped the shoot of Chehre, a crime thriller co-starring Emraan Hashmi. Ayushmann's latest outing Article 15, on the other hand, hits the screens on Friday and has already received rave reviews from critics. Shoojit, at present, is juggling between Gulabo Sitabo and Udham Singh (starring Vicky Kaushal in the titular role).

We tried getting in touch with the hospital management to confirm the news and get an update on the news but they remained tight-lipped about it. LOK SABHA ELECTIONS 2019: SALMAN KHAN'S INKED FINGER GETS A FUN REPLY FROM FRIENDS RONNIE AND KUNAL

Lok Sabha Elections 2019: Salman Khan's inked finger gets a fun reply from friends Ronnie and Kunal

The fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 took place in Mumbai and three other states on Monday (29 April 2019). And apart from the regular citizens, many Bollywood celebs, including The Bachchans, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan along with his wife, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan exercised their democratic right to vote in force. After their respective voting procedure, many B-Townies posted a selfie of themselves along with their inked finger on social media and among them was Salman Khan.

The Bhai of Bollywood took to his Twitter account and shared a picture of himself flaunting his inked finger. Fans comments on Salman's picture was all that we were expecting. However, two comments, in particular, grabbed our attention. While no one takes panga with Salman Khan, his friends are an exception when it comes to pulling each other's leg. It was producer Ronnie Screwvala and director Kunal Kohli's comments on Salman's post that left us in splits.

Starting off with Ronnie's comment, as seen below, he took a dig at Salman's inked finger and said how he just got a DOT while the world got a line inked. And in no time Kunal Kohli also joined a bandwagon and posted a GIF from the epic show FRIENDS which echoed the same voice as Screwvala's.

Have a look at their fun comments below:

Salman will be next seen in Bharat. Set for a June 5 release, Bharat stars Tabu, Jackie Shroff and Sunil Grover in interesting roles. The film is based on the South Korean film Ode to My Father (2014), which traces the history of South Korea parallel to a man's life, spanning from the 1950s to the 2010s.

Fake voter IDs in Bengaluru? BJP points finger at Congress, but raid finds none

In a series of tweets, the BJP claimed Rizwan Arshad, the Congress's Lok Sabha election candidate in Bangalore Central, was behind a "racket".

HIGHLIGHTS

  • EC, Bengaluru Police find only voter ID slips
  • This was an initiative to boost polling numbers: BBMP
  • BJP doesn't want an ordinary boy to succeed: Congress candidate
The Election Commission and the Bengaluru Police conducted a raid in Chickpet on Monday to check if fake voter IDs were being printed, but only found voter ID slips.
However, the BJP and arch-rival Congress, which governs Karnataka in coalition with the JD(S), sparred angrily on Twitter. The saffron party accused the Congress of printing fake voter ID cards and shot off a complaint to the poll panel.
The slips found at Prabhat Complex in Chickpet were meant to be given to voters to boost polling numbers.
"What we found is that there were voter slips and [that] surveys were done," said N Manjunath Prasad, the commissioner of Bengaluru's municipal body BBMP.
"People who don't stay in a particular place [in other words, have moved away] but registered in that same place were found, and were supposed to be given these voter slips -- thus making sure polling percentage increases. This was an initiative so that polling will be good," he said.
No case was filed, and no arrests were made.
In its letter to the Election Commission (see tweet below), the BJP claimed "several people" had indulged in the manufacturing of fake voter IDs, and that "hundreds of machineries" had been seized.
In a series of tweets, the saffron party claimed Rizwan Arshad, the Congress's Lok Sabha election candidate in Bangalore Central, was behind the "racket", and that 18 arrests had been made.
Arshad said the BJP sensed defeat in Bangalore Central, and accused it of targeting him because "the BJP does not want an ordinary boy to succeed".
"They simply can’t digest the fact that a commoner will now finally represent you in the parliament," he said in a message he tweeted to voters.b
