Telecom companies backed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India have made it mandatory to keep a minimum balance of at least Rs 35 to avoid SIM deactivation. Prepaid users are now mandated to maintain a minimum balance on their phone account to continue using their SIM services. Vodafone Idea which already has Rs 35 and Rs 65 plans that offer validity extension has launched a new Rs 24 minimum prepaid recharge plan which is so far its cheapest minimum recharge plan.
The new Rs 24 minimum recharge plan from Vodafone Idea is suitable for those who only want to extend the validity of their account by paying a minimum amount and do not want any data or calling benefits. The plan offers a validity extension of an account for 28 days. It is an open market plan meaning any Vodafone or Idea user can purchase the plan from company's website or mobile app and it is available across all circles of Vodafone Idea in India.
The benefits of the plan are limited. The company offers 100 on-net night calling minutes valid between 11:00PM and 6:00AM under the plan. So you can make 100 calling minutes between 11PM- 6AM but only from Vodafone to Vodafone, or Idea to Idea. The calls will be charged at 2.5paise per second while the data usage will be charged at 4 paise per 10KB. When on roaming, data usage will be charged at 10paise per 10KB. Talking about the SMSes, they will be charged at Re 1 per SMS for local while national SMS will be charged at Rs 1.5 per SMS.
The plan will be valid for 28 days from the date of recharge. You can recharge with the same plan once again if the validity is reached. If you fail to recharge your number with any prepaid plan, the company will first notify you via SMS to recharge your number within 15 days. Meanwhile the company will halt your outgoing calls and mobile data services during these 15 days. In case you fail to recharge your number after these 15 days then your incoming calls will also be stopped. Your services will restart once you recharge your number. The new recharge will be followed by another SMS informing you of the last date till when your services will remain active. It is advisable to recharge within validity to prevent service disruption.
