In retaliation to the dastardly attack on a security convoy in Pulwama earlier this month, in which at least 40 soldiers were martyred, Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets crossed the Line of Control (LoC) to Pakistan in the wee hours to destroy a major terrorist camp with bombs.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi lauded the IAF for giving a befitting reply to the terrorists and tweeted, "I salute the pilots of the IAF."
Anupam Kher took to Twitter to take a jibe at Gandhi and tweeted, "Today will be a good day to start saluting Prime Minister Narendra Modi too." He also tweeted, "Bharat Mata Ki Jai".
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale said in a press briefing at 11.30 am that a large number of terrorists were eliminated in the airstrike, which destroyed a terror camp run by Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Masood Azhar's brother-in-law.
Gokhale also slammed Pakistan for not taking any "concrete action" against terrorists despite knowing about the existence of these terror camps. "The existence of such massive training facilities capable to training hundreds of jehadis could not have functioned without knowledge of Pakistan authorities," he said.
"India has been repeatedly urging Pakistan to take action against the JeM to prevent jihadis from being trained and armed inside Pakistan. Pakistan has taken no concrete action to dismantle the infrastructure of terrorism on its soil," he added.
However, Major General Asif Ghafoor, the spokesperson of the Pakistan armed forces, has claimed that the Indian aircrafts were intercepted by the Pakistan Air Force and "released payload in haste" near Balakot without any casualties.
"Under forced hasty withdrawal, aircrafts released payload which had free fall in open area. No infrastructure got hit, no casualties," Ghafoor tweeted.
