Earlier this month Xiaomi headed Black Shark announced that it is coming to India very soon. The first Black Shark phone that may head to India will possibly be the newly launched Black Shark 2. On Monday, Xiaomi launched the successor to the original Black Shark aka the Black Shark 2 in China. Compared to the predecessor the Black Shark 2 is a much-upgraded version in terms of both specs and design.
Overall the Black Shark 2 looks rugged and is designed for the avid gamers out there. Besides the unique design, the Black Shark 2 comes packed with almost all the premium features. This is the first Black Shark phone to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. The new gaming phone doesn't support 5G this means Xiaomi has used X24 modem for the Black Shark 2. With the Black Shark 2 Xiaomi is aiming to take on the likes of other gaming phones from Asus, Nubia, Razer, and other smartphone manufacturers.
As far as the specs are concerned, the Black Shark 2 comes packed with a 6.39-inch OLED display. The display is big and bright enough for the gamers to have a great gaming experience of the Black Shark 2. The Xiaomi gaming phone embeds a fingerprint sensor beneath the display.
To help the gamers have a good gaming experience Xiaomi has included pressure-sensitive system around the screen of the Black Shark 2. Xiaomi says that the pressure sensitive system will help the users map the buttons located on the extreme corners of the display. To access the buttons the users will be required to press the dedicated areas of the screen slightly harder. Xiaomi has also said that the screen of the Black Shark 2 offers better colours accuracy when compared to the predecessor. For the Black Shark 2, Xiaomi has also fixed the issue of screen flickering at low brightness level. The gaming phone also comes with lower touch latency to 43.5ms.
As noted, the Black Shark 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi gaming phone comes in two variants -- the base model with 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and second model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone is backed by 4,000 mAh battery with support for 27W fast charging.
In terms of camera, the Black Shark includes a primary 48-megapixel camera and a secondary 12-megapixel camera on the back panel. On the front, the Black Shark 2 includes a 20-megapixel camera for selfies. Xiaomi has launched the Black Shark in two colours -- frozen silver and shadow black. The 6GB RAM/128GB storage model of the Black Shark 2 is priced at CNY 3,200 (roughly translates to Rs 33,000) while the 12GB RAM/256GB storage model comes with a price tag of CNY 4,200 (roughly translates to Rs 43,000).
